FAQ
The questions construction and built-environment companies ask us most, answered plainly. If yours isn't here, put it in the form above.
Are we the right kind of business for this?
Almost certainly, if you're an established built-environment business turning over £2m or more: a contractor, M&E or specialist trade, architect or engineer, QS or cost consultant, developer, or a property or facilities operator. What matters more than your type is that real work runs through the business: live jobs, real documents, the back-office work that piles up between site and office. You don't need clean systems, tidy data or a dedicated tech person to start; messy is normal, not a problem. If you're smaller than that, or there genuinely isn't enough work flowing through the business yet for AI to pay back, we'll tell you honestly.
Why should we trust you with this?
We're operators, not advisers. We've run businesses in the built environment and had AI doing real work inside them, and the firm is led by an MCIOB-qualified founder with fifteen years in UK construction. The work is already live: we have a built-environment engagement underway right now, with the diagnostic delivered and the build in progress. And we don't ask you to take it on faith: the first step is a paid diagnostic with a written deliverable, so you judge us on the quality of the thinking before you commit to any build. If it concludes AI won't pay its way in your business yet, you get the fee back. You're betting on output you can see, not on promises.
How are you different from a consultancy or an AI agency?
We're operators, not advisers. We've run these businesses, so we start from how they actually run: the quotes and proposals that win work, compliance and documentation, the reporting leadership relies on, and the admin that drags across departments and sites. A large consultancy hands over a strategy deck and steps away. An agency sells tools before anyone has asked whether they earn their place. We work out where AI actually pays for itself in your business, then build only what holds up to that test. No 200-slide decks, no year-long strategy projects.
What does it cost, and what do we actually get?
We don't publish prices, because cost depends on what your business needs once we've looked at it properly. Every engagement starts the same way, with a paid Strategy engagement, and we agree that fee with you before any work begins. It isn't the 10-question AI Diagnosis on our site; it's the first real piece of work: a diagnostic of how your business runs and where AI pays back and where it doesn't. You get a short written document: the opportunities worth pursuing, the order to build them in, and the rough cost and payback against each. It's yours to act on, whether you take it in-house, take it elsewhere, or have us build it (the Implementation that may follow is scoped and priced separately). The diagnostic fee is fixed and deliberately small next to what a wrong AI investment costs, so you're never committing to a big number sight unseen. And if it can't make the case for AI in your business, we refund the fee. That's written into the engagement, not a slogan.
What does working with you actually look like, and how much of our time will it take?
Most of the lifting is on us. Early on we need a few focused hours from the right people to understand how the work really runs, then short check-ins as each system goes live. We don't set up a standing committee or pull people off live jobs for months. After the diagnostic, we build in sequence and prove one system is working in the business before starting the next, so you commit one step at a time rather than to a big programme up front. You stay in control of the pace throughout.
How soon will we see something working?
Fast. The diagnostic gives you a clear picture in weeks, not a year-long study. The first build is then deliberately something that pays back quickly, often a single workflow live and in use within weeks: turning a pile of incoming documents into a drafted response, say, or pulling together a report someone currently assembles by hand. We prove that one thing works before moving to the next, so you feel the difference early.
Is our business data safe, and is it used to train AI?
Yes, and no. Each system we build gets access only to what it needs to do the work, nothing more, so your client records, project files and commercial data stay where they should. Your data is never used to train anyone's AI model, and it stays inside systems we set up under your control, hosted in the UK or EU. We'll walk you through exactly where it lives and how it's handled before anything goes live.
Do we own what you build, or are we locked in?
You own it. We build on systems and accounts in your name, so what we build is yours and your data is yours. If we stop working together, your systems keep running and nothing is held hostage. Our aim is to make ourselves optional, not necessary: we build around the tools your team already uses and train the people who'll run each system, so by the time we step back they're operating it themselves. If you want us to stay on as your AI operating partner, that's a choice, not a leash.
